Special Connection

 She’s fond of classical music.

Nowadays, it’s rare for her to find someone in her circle who appreciates classical music beyond seeing it as mere background or relaxing music.

Then she found someone who shares the same appreciation for this type of music.

This man had a deep love for art and literature, and his insights on diverse topics were impressive, at least, that’s what she perceived from a few of his articles that she had read. Even though they didn’t really know each other, she felt a kind of connection with him through his playlist.

Opportunities arose, and she had a good reason to reach out to him.

“Just tell me how I can be of help,” he said.

Despite not having met on a personal level and knowing he might only have associated her with the organization she belonged to, he was very warm and approachable.

They finally met.

She wasn’t very good at small talk and wasn’t sure how she fared that night. She mostly just smiled, laughed, and added a few thoughts to the conversation. All she remembers is that she was very eager about the things this man was sharing. Mind you, she’s an easygoing person who laughs at the corniest jokes. But when it comes to substance and wit, she likes to think she has a knack for recognizing them.

It was undeniable that his personality, combined with his good looks, was admirable. He gave off the vibe of a dependable classmate whom every girl might have had a secret crush on.

She was absorbed by how he wrote his stories. Once she started reading his works, she couldn’t stop. She loved the insights and lessons she learned from them, perhaps because he captured the very things she was interested in. The exchanges about what they were both passionate about gave her so much inspiration. Who wouldn’t be captivated by someone whose wit and wisdom were so admirable, and who also offered kind words when she was feeling a bit low and in need of a little boost? It was the kind of subtle allure she couldn’t help but be drawn to.

She had thought that the Great Pyramid, Eiffel Tower, and Statue of Liberty were just tourist destinations, and one a great wonder of the world. She never imagined they could evoke the same kind of magic as words that make someone’s heart flutter or a playful, trivial joke that can light up a smile. In the same way, she never imagined that she would find someone so dear and special through just a few fleeting interactions and meaningful conversations. She might not fully grasp this herself, but she chose to see it as finding joy in discovering someone who resonated with her, brought her encouragement and inspiration, and helped her become a better person in her craft.
